22 April 2021 – The Gallipoli Scholarship Fund Presentation of Scholarships Ceremony was held via Zoom. Due to the continuing concerns about COVID, the Gallipoli Scholarship Committee in early February decided that we could not hold our normal Presentation Lunch at Merrylands RSL Club. We are very disappointed that, for the second year running, we could not enjoy the wonderful hospitality provided by Bryn Miller and his dedicated staff at Merrylands, but we are very hopeful that next year we will be back presenting in person! We sincerely appreciate the tremendous support provided by Merrylands RSL Club and Sub -Branch since the first two scholarships were awarded in 1998.
The Gallipoli Scholarship Fund is honoured to have two outstanding Australians as our Patrons, His Excellency General the Hon. David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d), the Governor-General of Australia, and Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley.
Their Excellencies kindly sent us a video address for the Presentation Day.
The Gallipoli Scholarship Fund has been operating since 1998 and in those 23 years, 149 Scholarships have been awarded to worthy students who have gone on to achieve great things in their professional careers. At each Presentation Ceremony, we like to hear from one of our Gallipoli Scholars, to understand how the Scholarship assisted them to complete their studies and what they are now doing.
At the 2021 Gallipoli Scholarship Fund Presentation of Scholarships Ceremony via Zoom on Thursday 22nd April we heard from 2014 recipient, now Doctor Naomi Clements, who studied Medicine at the University of NSW – Wagga Campus, and is now working at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle.
