Scholarships & Bursaries

To provide more opportunities for eligible descendants of veterans, the Gallipoli Scholarship Fund is establishing additional Bursaries with Ex-Service and not-for-profit organisations, RSL Clubs and Sub-Branches, Australian Government entities, Corporates, Foundations and individual donors.

Gallipoli Scholarships

The Gallipoli Scholarship Fund annually awards scholarships and bursaries to selected students. The Fund encourages organisations and individuals to donate to the Fund and to consider providing bursaries in their own name. The number of scholarships and bursaries on offer is dependent on the funds raised

Lockheed Martin Australia Bursary

Since 2020, the GSF has awarded the Lockheed Martin Australia (LMA) Bursary. The current agreement is for 12 bursaries over the first five years with an opportunity to extend. To be eligible for a LMA Bursary, applicants must satisfy the same core criteria common to all scholarships and additionally be enrolled in a tertiary course of study in a STEM field or related discipline. In subsequent years the bursary winners may become eligible for internships with LMA.

Calleo Indigenous Bursary

Indigenous Australians are encouraged to apply for all scholarships/bursaries, however, commencing in 2021, the GSF will award the Calleo Indigenous Bursary to specifically honour an indigenous veteran. The current agreement calls for a minimum of one indigenous scholar for three years with an opportunity to extend.

EY (Ernst & Young) Internship Bursary

Also commencing in 2021, the GSF will award the Ernst & Young (EY) Bursary to a first-year student engaged in tertiary studies related to EY’s core activities, such as business, economics or finance. EY will provide internship to the selected scholar, and if the scholar proves worthy EY will continue to provide funding for subsequent years of the degree. The current agreement calls for a minimum of one new scholar per year for five years with an opportunity to extend.

Merrylands RSL Bursary

Since 2020, the GSF has awarded the Merrylands RSL (MRSL) Bursary. The Merrylands club is a long-standing supporter of the GSF and annually hosts the presentation lunches.  The Bursary aims to support the allocation of a Bursary to a student from western Sydney or alternatively, a student from a regional area making the big step to attend a Sydney-based university.

In honour of their long-term support of the GSF, each year the Gallipoli Memorial Club Bursary will be awarded.

In honour of their long-term support of the GSF, each year the Fairfield RSL Bursary will be awarded.

Earlwood Bardwell Park (EBP) RSL Bursary

Commencing in 2021, we welcome the support of Earlwood Bardwell Park (EBP) RSL for their namesake Bursary.

Castle Hill RSL Group Bursary

CHRG (Castle Hill RSL Group) comprises three premier hospitality venues – Castle Hill RSL Club, Club Parramatta, and Lynwood Golf & Country Club, in addition to Castle Hill Fitness and Aquatic Centre. With community at the heart of everything we do, we are proud to build on our legacy of veteran welfare by fostering the growth and development of eligible descendants of veterans – supporting them as they strive to be their best. We share the vision of the Gallipoli Scholarship Fund and seek to perpetuate an understanding of the enduring traditions of perseverance, courage, self-sacrifice, and mateship that were established so indelibly in the cause of world peace at Gallipoli, and thereafter on other battlefields and peace operations.

Ingleburn RSL Bursary

Ingleburn RSL Sub-Branch Club Limited has been a supporter of the Gallipoli Scholarship Fund since 2019. The Bursary aims to support a deserving applicant for their first year of tertiary study. Ingleburn RSL Sub-Branch Club is proud to be associated with such a worthy project.

Hall Rotary Club Bursary

Commencing in 2021, the GSF will award the Hall Rotary Club (HRC) Bursary to a first-year student engaged in tertiary studies related to agriculture, with priority being given to candidates from the ACT/NSW region.  The current agreement calls for a minimum of one scholar for three years with an opportunity to extend.

Mustafa Kemal Atarturk Memorial Bursary

The Atatürk Scholarship was founded to provide Educational Bursaries to Australians of Turkish descent who are completing their first year at University or TAFE and who are also in need of financial assistance. Furthermore, the Atatürk Scholarship, in conjunction with the Gallipoli Scholarship Fund, have agreed to establish and honour the Turkish origins of the Gallipoli Scholarship. This bursary would be known as the Mustafa Kemal Atatürk Memorial Bursary to recognise his famous words to the mothers of the ANZAC’s and the 106 years of the close relationship between the two countries. This special bursary will be given to the descendants of the ANZAC’s. The bursary will commence in 2021 and will run for a minimum of four years.

Bill Hall Bursary

Since 2019, the GSF has awarded the Bill Hall Bursary as an incentive for first year Gallipoli Scholars who achieve a minimum Distinction average to apply for funding for their second year of tertiary study. The Bursary perpetuates the memory of Bill Hall,  a World War II veteran from the Battle of Milne Bay in New Guinea, who was one of the founders of the Gallipoli Scholarship Fund. The Bill Hall Bursary is proudly supported by the Vonwiller Foundation.

Macintosh Foundation Bursary

The Macintosh Foundation Bursary is awarded to a current or former Gallipoli Scholar entering their 3rdyear of tertiary study, with priority given to study in the medical / health sector. To be eligible, Gallipoli Scholars must have achieved a minimum Distinction average in their 2nd year of tertiary study.
