SYDNEY, 12 November 2025 –
The Gallipoli Scholarship Fund (GSF) is proud to promote opportunities that align with our mission of honouring service and supporting education. The C.A.S. Hawker Scholarship, one of Australia’s most respected academic awards, reflects the same values of leadership, integrity and contribution to community that underpin the Gallipoli Scholarship Fund.
Applications are now open for the 2026 C.A.S. Hawker Scholarships. Each undergraduate residential scholarship is valued at $75,000 over three years, offering significant support to students who demonstrate exceptional leadership, academic achievement and community engagement.
Named in memory of Charles Allan Seymour Hawker (1894–1938), a distinguished scholar, soldier, pastoralist and statesman, the scholarship recognises and encourages young Australians who embody his commitment to public service and national contribution.
Applicants are shortlisted based on their academic excellence, personal qualities and service to their communities, with interviews conducted by the Hawker Trustees via Zoom in mid-January 2026.
Reflecting on the alignment between the two organisations, Major General Michael G. Smith AO (Ret’d), Chairman of the Gallipoli Scholarship Fund, said:
“The values and origins of our two organisations are aligned. It would be terrific to see one or more Gallipoli Scholars go on to receive a Hawker Scholarship.”
The GSF encourages our scholars, alumni and broader community to explore this outstanding opportunity, which complements the Fund’s own mission of empowering descendants of Australian veterans through education and leadership.
Applications close at 5pm on Tuesday, 2 December 2025 (ACDT).
Before applying, prospective students should visit the Hawker Scholarship website for full eligibility criteria, FAQs and application details.
The Gallipoli Scholarship Fund is committed to supporting pathways that recognise excellence, service and leadership. The Hawker Scholarship stands as a powerful example of these principles in action. Together, initiatives like the GSF and the Hawker Scholarship ensure that the legacy of those who served continues to inspire and empower generations to come.
